up coming For Honor

                                          For Honor

For Honor is an upcoming action hack and slash video game in development by Ubisoft Montreal and set to be published by Ubisoft for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It was announced at the 2015 Electronic Entertainment Expo. The game features a hand-to-hand combat system described as "The Art of Battle" by the developers and allows players to play the roles of historical soldiers such as medieval knights, samurai, and vikings within a Medieval setting.

Gameplay

For Honor is an action hack and slash video game set during the medieval period. Players can play as a character from three different factions, namely The Legion, The Chosen, and The Warborn. The three factions represent knight, samurai, and Vikings, respectively. Each faction has four classes. The Vanguard class are described as "well-balanced" and has excellent offence and defence. The Assassins class are fast, are very efficient in dueling enemies, but they deal much less damage to enemies. The Heavies are more resistant to damages and suitable for holding capture points, though their attacks are slow. The last class, known as "Hybrids", are said to be a combination of the three types, and is capable of using uncommon skills. All heroes are unique, and have their own weapons, skills, and fighting styles

Players fight against their opponents with class-specific melee-weapons such as axes, swords, and katana, When players perform certain actions, such as killing multiple enemies consecutively, they gain Feats, which are additional perks. These perks allow players to gain additional points and strengths, call in a barrage of arrows or a catapult attack, or heal themselves. In most missions, players will be accompanied by numerous AI minions. They are significantly weaker than the player character, and do not pose much threat.

A tactical combat system, known as "Art of Battle", is initiated when the player encounters stronger enemies, who have more health. Players enter a dueling mode with them wherein players aim at their opponent with their weapon. Players then can choose how to place and position their weapons from three directions (from above, the right, and the left) when they are attacking their enemies. By observing on-screen hints and the movements of their opponents, which reflect their respective attack position, players can notice the weakest part of their enemies and attacks these parts. Choosing the correct position can block the other players' attack. Players also have other special abilities, such as barging into enemies with their own shoulders and performing back-stepping swipes. The strength of each attack can also be decided by players. The system aims at allowing players to "feel the weight of the weapon in [their] hand"

Multiplayer

Similar to the single-player campaign, the multiplayer modes feature perks, AI minions, and the Art of Battle system. As the competitive multiplayer modes feature a structure similar to that of shooters, the creative director of the game called For Honor a "shooter with swords". Friendly fire is also featured in the game. Players can cause damage to their own teammates if they accidentally or intentionally hit them with their blades. The multiplayer aspect also allows players to customize their characters. For instance, the gender of the characters, and the armor they wear, can be changed and modified. There are four modes:

Dominion: Dominion is a four-versus-four multiplayer mode in which players must capture and hold multiple zones in a battlefield. Points are earned through occupying combat zones. When one team earns enough points, they must eliminate the players from the other team and win the match.
Brawl: In this two-versus-two multiplayer mode, a team must eliminate the entire opponent team completely in order to win.

Duel: Duel is a one-versus-one multiplayer mode in which a player must successfully kill its opponent in order to win.

Skirmish: Skirmish is a four-versus-four multiplayer mode in which players gain points while killing enemies. The team that scores the most within the time limit will win the match.
Elimination: A team of players must eliminate the entire team of opponent players in this four-versus-four multiplayer mode. The team that still has remaining warriors will automatically win the match.

Story Campaign

Playable as single player or in 2-players co-op, online or split-screen, For Honor's story campaign is a tale of warriors that will immerse players into the world of For Honor and plunge them into the raging war between Knights, Vikings and Samurai.

A thousand years after a huge cataclysm destroyed their world the Knights, the Vikings and the Samurai have finally managed to regain most of their old strength. Each of them now has the power to defy the other factions, turning a rampant conflict into a total open war.

Embodying the greatest warriors in each faction, players will live, from the inside, the events of a crucial moment in that age-old war. Confronted by manipulation and treason, they will need to use all their wits and skills to ensure the survival of their people and foil the plans of the merciless and bloodthirsty warlord, Apollyon.
Storming castles and fortresses, turning the tide of massive battles, and confronting deadly bosses in intense duels, they will become heroes of legend, symbols and models of their warrior legacies.

The Kensei in the Story Campaign
The Kensei was a rapidly rising commander in the Emperor’s service, but an unfortunate habit of speaking truthfully caused a once promising career to end in exile. However, the Kensei’s deep faithfulness and good spirit earned many loyal friends who are keen on seeing Kensei's honor restored.
It is only a matter of time before the Kensei's exile is ended – once the small matter of their prison sentence has been dealt with.

The Raider in the Story Campaign
The Raider is a fearless but rage-filled warrior that is tired of watching his fellow Vikings spill one another's blood. Raiders, as a rule, can be bloodthirsty – and this one is certainly no exception – but they are also filled with an immense love and pride for their people.
Whether by force, guile, or sheer determination, this fierce warrior intends to unite the Warborn clans. And may the gods have mercy on whoever gets in their way.

The Warden in the Story Campaign
The Warden is a courageous and talented young knight from the lands of the Iron Legion. Wardens are expected to be noble and brave – living embodiments of virtue – and this one has the potential to be that and more.
But after years of fighting endless battles for no worthy cause, The Warden has begun wandering, seeking a purpose equal to his talents and genuinely worth fighting for. That search comes to end in Ashfeld, among the warriors of the Blackstone Legion

Mafia 3 goes behind the scenes with the Marcano crime family

Mafia 3 goes behind the scenes with the Marcano crime family

This time next month, Lincoln Clay will go head-to-head with New Bordeaux’s most underhanded adversaries—the Marcano crime family. We’ve already been given a brief glimpse as to what they’re all about, however the latest developer-led short takes a deeper dive into the workings of Mafia 3’s central antagonists.

Headed by crime boss Sal Marcano, we learn that the top man runs the game’s faux New Orleans setting with similar autonomy to how Sam Rothstein oversees Vegas in Scorsese’s Casino.

“He has a relationship with Leo, who you may remember from Mafia 2,” says Bill Harms, number three’s lead writer. “He kicks up to [The Commission] but they pretty much give him carte blanche to run the city however he sees fit. The one thing that they do ask of him is that he basically accepts anyone they send him, so it’s kind of a dumping ground for mobsters which is also how Vito ends up there.”

Vito and Sal might be the least of Lincoln’s worries, though, as the trailer goes on to discuss the mob boss’ “most important relationship”—the one he shares with his temperamental and unpredictable son Georgie, who he’s grooming to eventually take control of the city. There’s definitely a bit of a Tony Soprano-Chrissy Moltisanti vibe about how the two operate, which sounds a bit terrifying.

“[Georgie] is the person Sal trusts more than anybody else,” explains studio head Haden Blackman. “Georgie is young, he’s ambitious. His plans and desires don’t necessarily line up 100 percent with his father’s, but, at the end of the day, this is a game about family and about loyalty. We put that to the test with Lincoln but also with Georgie as well.”

Mafia 3 is due October 7.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided PC patch adds DirectX 12 support

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided PC patch adds DirectX 12 support

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided did not ship with DirectX 12 support as Eidos Montreal required more time to add some “extra work and optimizations.” That appears to be sorted now because, just over two weeks post-launch, PC patch 5 is live bringing with it the “first preview version of DirectX 12 for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.”

So how do you get it? If you already own Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, the game’s DX12 preview version has been launched as a separate branch, so says this Steam community update. Find it by accessing the Steam properties within the main game and clicking on the ‘Betas’ tab.

Alongside a range of bug fixes, patch 5 advises players to ensure their drivers are up to date and that running into unforeseen issues can be remedied by simply reverting back to DX11, as “there are no visual or gameplay differences between the two DirectX versions.” If you do run into bother, it’s worth noting that this is still a preview version and that the game’s final DX12 release is set for the week beginning September 19. Multi-GPU support will be added then, however the latest patch does not cover that at present.

“We know that the preview version may have some minor hiccups, so your feedback will be critical to make sure that the final release is as good as it can possibly be,” reads the Steam community update. “If you run into any issues, or have any comments, please do not hesitate to contact us and let us know.

Mass Effect: Andromeda's Male and Female Characters Both Exist In-Game, Are Family

Mass Effect: Andromeda's Male and Female Characters Both Exist In-Game, Are Family

The Mass Effect series has always allowed players to choose between male and female characters, but in Mass Effect: Andromeda both versions of the protagonist, Ryder, will exist in the universe and are actually related.

"What people don't know, a little surprise here, is these two are brother and sister," Mac Walters, creative lead on Andromeda, told PlayStation Access. "They both exist in the game world at the same time. So if you're playing as the sister--the female Ryder--your brother is somewhere in the universe."

Not only that, but the character shown in the first reveal trailer wearing the N7 armor is also related to the Ryder siblings.

"Another fun little tidbit is the character we saw two E3s ago in the N7 is actually their father. We've got the full Ryder family now revealed. We'll do names and things in the future."

During Sony's PlayStation Meeting it was revealed that Andromeda will take advantage of the new hardware in the PlayStation Pro, and a 4K gameplay video was shown. BioWare later confirmed Andromeda will run at 30 FPS across both PS4 and the PS4 Pro.

BioWare's Aaryn Flynn also revealed a brand new Mass Effect: Andromeda trailer will be shown on November 7 to "officially open the doors to the next chapter of the Mass Effect universe." This date is N7 Day, which BioWare uses to celebrate its sci-fi franchise.
